The Lucithia-Aquitan War was the largest and most destructive conflict in Aron’s history. The war lasted from October 11th 2106 to July 7th 2109, ending when Aquita successfully pushed the Lucithians off of Enequit, causing the events that would lead to the dissolution of the United Federal States of Lucithia, and to the 212 Economic Collapse.
The Lucithia-Aquita War began under miscommunication between the two sides. The UFSL and Aquita had previously and numerously done military “exercises” a slight bit outside each other's territories.
These showings of military prowess strengthened the hatred between the two sides. Eventually Aquita began building troops on their border, anticipating that the Lucithians would soon attempt an invasion. The UFSL interpreted this as the Aquitans gearing up to invade their Enequit territories, prompting Lucithia to also build up troops.
As these troops patrolled, Lucithian companies pressured the government into going to war thinking that the UFSL would surely win, and it would eliminate the competitor’s in Aquita. As these companies lobbied the government, scared politicians continued to listen to these companies, and also continued to buy military products from them, making them have an even bigger stranglehold on the government.
Eventually, out of fear and miscommunication, the UFSL ordered the movement of the troops into Aquitan territory, thus beginning The most destructive war in history.
Lucithian, Rezlian, and Nautfrankish troops poured into Aquitan territory, quickly overwhelming Aquitan forces. LU troops continued to move into Aquitan forests with little resistance. Meanwhile, the Polshka Union closely watched Lucithian aggression.
The Polshka Union had always been more aligned to Aquita due to the slow falloff of the UFSL’s democracy and quality of living. The Polshka Union itself formed in the wake of the dissolution of the EEU and ADA, including many northern Enequit nations. This Union was founded mainly in economics, but also military support if needed, and the Polshka Council was considering involving themselves on the side of the Aquitans.
As Lucithian troops continued to advance towards their main target, Milibu, they were met with some more resistance. Aquitan troops were being equipped with the best that Aquita could offer, Flame throwers, railguns, orbital support, and unbeknownst to the Lucithians, weapons sent from Entara. Though the Aquitan’s had the technological advantage, they did not have the numbers advantage. This was best highlighted at the battle for Calburg.
At the Battle of Calburg, the Aquitan’s had the advantage. They were on top of the hill Calburg sits on and had already entrenched the location with anti-tank and anti-personnel mines. Everything pointed to an Aquitan victory. The Lucithian alliance, seeing this, chose to send in over 100 thousand troops and more than 200 machines to surround Calburg. In hours the entire location was surrounded with heavy casualties, but soon Calburg fell ending in the burning of the city.
This utter defeat got the attention of the Polshka Union, and especially the Entarans who thought that the UFSL would go after the Polshka Union next. After this, the Entarans decided to prepare for a defense of their mainland and the Lucithians continued their advance.
Despite the loss of ~10,000 troops, the UFSL continued to push into Aquitan territory. Aquitan leadership saw the critical condition of their military, and decided to pull troops from defending the western front and focus them in Milibu.
Due to this retreat of sorts the UFSL military saw this as a chance to build up troops, knowing that with the fall of Milibu the rest of the country would follow suit. The UFSL built up a force of 2.22 Million accumulated on the border, along with thousands of tanks, transports, and helicopters.
On the flip side, Aquita continued to fortify Milibu and their western line. Millions of troops built up, supported by Aquita’s superior space infrastructure that allowed them to bombard positions without artillery.
Though Aquita had the technological advantage, the Lucithians far outnumbered them 2:3. On December 5th of 2107 the war officially resumed and the UFSL advanced quickly with heavy casualties towards Milibu. The Lucithians were bombarded by orbital fire that caused the losses of hundreds of millions in equipment and personnel.
Despite the major setback and heavy fighting the UFSL still managed to reach Milibu, swiftly crushing the fortifications by using tactical nuclear weapons and nearly terroristic actions, marking the first time a skyscraper filled city was destroyed. This violent and blatant violation of many international laws obliged Entara to begin to supply much more equipment, support, and eventually troops and direct involvement.
Directly after the battle and subsequent fall of Milibu, Aquita’s leadership was debating the use of Thermonuclear weaponry. Though Ultrasonic Intercept Missiles (UIM) were now capable of striking their ICBMs during their launch phase, the Nyx launched ISBMs were capable of striking any target on the UFSL within a 12 hour period.
After much deliberation, the leveling of Milibu caused Aquita to respond in suit with tactical nuclear weapons. The use of 3 tactical nuclear warheads across strategic chokeholds caused heavy and widespread damage to the environment and UFSL troops and marked the first time nuclear weapons had been used in conflict since the end of the Great World War.
Due to the use of tactical nuclear weapons, the UFSL immediately went into DEFCON 2, launching the Security Council into a secure undisclosed location via Airforce One. There the UFSL Security Council convened and deliberated on launching ICBMs, SLBMs, and ISBMs into Aquitan territory. Soon the council reached the conclusion that Aquita needed to be destroyed, and with it, the entire southern hemisphere's climate.
Soon Aquitan, Entaran, and Claran EWS went off showing 1312 ICBM’s incoming. Immediately interceptors from across Enequit scrambled to destroy the incoming nuclear warheads, their paths unknown. Soon Aquita’s systems launched all ICBMs, SLBM, and ISBM in their arsenal. Soon the preliminary EMP nuclear weapons went off causing a blackout throughout the entire South Enequit grid. Interceptors had shot down almost all of the land and sea based warheads, few getting through to their targets. But all was not over, for 10 minutes later the ISBM’s struck Ashrend, New Kelcy City, Marrington, Nova, Milibu, and Wythold killing a total of 72 million upfront and killing nearly 209 million from radiation, fires, and other hazards.
After the complete destruction of the UFSL and Aquita’s infrastructure and populations, both countries were completely devastated. Their economies were in ruin, hundreds of millions were dead, and millions more were injured. But the UFSL-Aquita border continues to sway, with the UFSL line slowly slipping toward Penequa.
After the advent of ultrasonic intercept missiles and space based missiles, ICBMs were much less effective. Recently in the 2100s the UFSL and Aquita began to construct ISBM (Interspace Ballistic Missile) on Nyx. These missiles would accelerate to extreme velocities (0.003 ~ C) allowing them to reach anywhere on Aron in under 10 minutes depending on if that part of Aron is facing Nyx.
Soon the UFSL was at its knees. Entara had pushed the Lucithians back all the way to the original borders and the UFSL was ready to surrender. Rezlia and Nautfranken soon conceded and surrendered, though the UFSL and Penequa did not want to risk global humiliation. Soon Aquitan and Entaran forces marched through Penequa, who soon surrendered. It was only a matter of time until the Entarans and Aquitans would reach New Penequa. The UFSL Security Council convened and soon decided the war was no longer worth it, and signed off on a formal surrender, ending the war on July 7th 2109.
