Procabar tree

The Procabar tree (Megalofructa procabara), also called the megalofructa, is a coastal tree mykovian native to Enkalia. It is known for its mostly hollow trunk, buoyant body, and large fruits that remain attached to the tree by hard fibrous stems. These traits allow fallen Procabar trees to float across water and spread to distant coastlines.

Procabar trees belong to Fosomykota, the photosynthetic branch of Mykovia. Like other producer mykovians, they rely on Fosozoi living in their light-exposed tissues. Their pale hollow trunks support blue photosynthetic crowns and contain sealed chambers that help the tree float after being uprooted.

The species produces relatively few fruits compared to related megalofructas. Each fruit contains protected seeds carrying host tissue, Fosozoi, and compatible Worker Cells. Unlike many fruiting mykovians, Procabar fruits often remain attached until the entire tree falls or is washed into water.

This rafting strategy allowed the Procabar tree to spread from Enkalia across much of O'nesia and other tropical regions. A fallen tree may drift for long periods before washing ashore, where its fruits split or decay and release seeds into wet sand or coastal debris. Young Procabars root first into the decaying parent trunk before spreading into the surrounding soil.

Procabar groves stabilize beaches, trap drifting organic matter, and provide habitat for small coastal Zoavia, and Provista. Their buoyant wood is commonly used in coastal regions for rafts.
