Ashrend
Ashrend is the capital and most populous city in the country of Aquita. Located on the south of the Atred Penisula, with a population of 22.3 million people and the Greater Ashrend area covering 1,311 sq miles. It is located in the Ashreckington County, the most populous county in Aquita.
Ashrend was first settled in 580 CE, and incorporated as a city in 632 CE. It was offically incorporated as the national capital in 699 CE, replacing the old capital of Calivonia. It rapidly increased in population in the 8th century as a major port city along the Aquitan controlled Gurnee Bay. Ashrend was nearly fully destroyed after the Battle of Ashrend and Aquita's surrender after the Second Aquitan War, however during occupation and after liberation, it was rebuilt as a major futuristic city, hosting steel skyscrapers, while keeping any of the traditional architecture that was left.
Ashrend is a major international finance hub, commercial, industry, software, technology, transport, cultural, and telecommunications center. It is one of the largest economical and financial centers in the world, and very high up in Enequit. Ashrend International Airport is one of the largest airports in the world, being a hub for multiple airliners and attracting thousands of tourists daily. The Ashrend area has one of the highest Gross Domestic Products of any urban center on Aron, and the largest on Enequit.
A large part of income is tourism, with an average 35 million tourists per year.
